Outer Banks Ocean Rescue

Outer Banks Ocean Rescue is a professional lifeguard service dedicated to providing ocean rescue and water safety services for the Town of Duck, North Carolina. Our team of highly trained ocean lifeguards works proactively to protect residents and visitors through vigilant beach surveillance, rapid emergency response, and public education. With a strong respect for the power of the ocean and the unique conditions of the Outer Banks, we prioritize professionalism, teamwork, and preparedness to ensure a safe and enjoyable beach experience for all.

Beach Safety

We patrol the beaches of the Town of Duck from Lifeguards are on duty from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. between May 1 and October 31. We maintain lifeguard stations* at various locations throughout the summer in addition to ATV and truck patrols. These locations include the following:

Memorial Day to Labor Day:

  • Caffey’s Inlet
  • Sprigtail Drive
  • Barrier Island Station
  • Schooner Ridge Drive
  • Christopher Drive
  • Four Seasons

June 14 to August 17:

  • Ocean Pines
  • Mallard Drive
  • Widgeon Drive
  • South Snow Geese
  • Dune Road
  • Scarborough Lane
  • Plover Drive
  • Charles Jenkins Lane

*Please note, should conditions on the beach change, stand locations may be shifted. We also patrol the beach on ATVs. Please heed words of caution, advisories, and/or the flying of red (no swimming) flags. They are issued for your safety.
